Hochkönig Ski region

Located at an altitude of 860 to 1,900 meters, the ski area in Maria Alm is consistently snow-sure and multifaceted. 34 state-of-the-art lifts connect the area and bring you to your favourite piste among a total of 120 seamlessly connected kilometres of piste. The feeling of freedom in the midst of the imposing peaks of the Hochkönig feels endless while the mountain air refreshes you on the steep slopes as well as the gentle cruising trails.

Skitouring and cross-country skiing

The 30 km long network of trails in Maria Alm invites you to bring body and mind into harmony in the great outdoors, while you get a good work out with skating or classic cross-country skiing. There are also numerous options for ski tourers in the Hochkönig holiday region.

A relaxed winter hike through the snow-covered landscape is the ideal activity for a sunny winter day – enjoy nature as the fresh winter breeze tickles your face while you explore the surroundings while walking. Snowshoeing
If you don’t want to have to stick to a path and would like to make your own mark across country, you can experience nature up close with this gentle way of moving. The Hochkönig region is a wonderful hiking area and offers many unforgettable views, both with and without snowshoes. In addition, guided snowshoe hikes are offered by the tourist office.

Winter hiking
More than 85 km of prepared winter hiking trails are available on the Hochkönig, inviting you to get to know the popular holiday region step by step. You can recharge your batteries and warm up during your hikes in rustic huts and cosy inns.

Tobogganing
Choose between the 2.5 km long Jufen natural toboggan run and the Kronreith toboggan run, which has a particularly wide 1.5 km downhill run. Both natural toboggan runs are charmingly illuminated in the evening and offer toboggan rental.

Horse-drawn sleigh rides
A romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snow-covered landscape of Maria Alm is not to be missed. The horses snort, the bells ring, you are tightly wrapped in a thick blanket, and time seems to stand still for a moment. An experience for two or for the whole family that will be remembered forever.
